Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of the website at summerlandbuilders.com (the “Site”), which is operated by Summerland Builders. By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Use of the Site

You may use this Site for personal, informational purposes — for example, to learn about our construction services, view our project portfolio, or contact us about a potential project. You agree not to use the Site in any way that would:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Site or its servers.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Site or related systems.
  • Use automated means (scrapers, bots) to collect content from the Site without our prior written permission.

2. Construction services are separate from the Site

The Site is a marketing and informational resource. It is not a contract for construction services. Any actual construction, renovation, design, or related professional services Summerland Builders provides are governed by a separate, written agreement signed by both parties. Nothing on the Site constitutes a binding offer, quote, or contract.

Projects shown in our portfolio are representative of past work. Actual outcomes for any new project depend on the specific scope, site conditions, materials, permits, and governing regulations.

3. Intellectual property

All content on this Site — including text, photography, architectural illustrations, logos, the Summerland Builders name and marks, and original code — is the property of Summerland Builders or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws.

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any portion of the Site without our prior written permission, except that you may print a reasonable number of pages for personal, non-commercial reference (e.g., to share a project description with a family member).

4. Florida General Contractor licensure

Summerland Builders is a Florida-licensed General Contractor (License #CGC1509536), and all general contracting on this Site refers to services performed under that license, subject to the limits and obligations imposed by Florida law. The principal of the firm, Mercedes Lozada, was trained as an architect and is licensed as such in Colombia (Universidad del Valle); she does not hold a Florida architect’s license and does not practice architecture in Florida. Architectural design services on every Summerland project are provided by an independently licensed Florida architect of record. References on this Site to Mercedes’ “Degree in Architecture,” “architectural design experience,” or similar describe her Colombian credentials and four decades of design background, applied to her role as the firm’s General Contractor.

5. Information accuracy & no professional advice

We work to keep the Site accurate, but content may occasionally be out of date, incomplete, or contain errors. The Site provides general information only. It is notlegal, financial, engineering, or architectural advice for any specific project. Decisions about construction or renovation should be based on a signed agreement, site-specific engineering, permitting, and consultation with qualified professionals.

6. Third-party links

The Site may link to third-party websites (such as the Better Business Bureau profile, Google Maps, or social platforms). Those sites are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content or practices.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The Site is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Summerland Builders disclaims all warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Florida law, Summerland Builders, its principals, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Site is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).

This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Monroe County, Florida, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the bottom of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
